Wade’s Wheel

Wade's WheelWade’s Wheel was one of those impromptu photos that unexpectedly come about. While visiting family in Columbia Fall’s, Montana, I discovered this old wheel in Wade’s front yard and it just struck me to take a shot and I’m glad I did. I liked the color of the fall grasses against the reddish wheel. I guess there is just something nostalgic about it that caught my eye.

I first spotted the scene out of the corner of my eye while Wade and I were chatting in his driveway. Thinking Wade’s Wheel might make an interesting shot, I first took a photo with my smartphone. Liked the result so well I pulled out my Nikon D800 with a 24-70mm f2.8 lens and shot a couple of exposures. I’m happy with the result. There was just something about that old red wheel leaning up against a fence post almost covered by fall grasses that was very appealing.
